Movies
Seven Years In Tibet - The remarkable True Story about an Austrian prisoner of war who is transformed by his friendship with the young Dalai Lama. The entire cast is superb, and Brad Pitt delivers the best performance, we believe, of his entire career. Very touching and inspirational, and one of the best historical films we've seen. As with all great historical books and movies: The Lessons Are Timeless. BraveHeart - Based on the life of William Wallace who was the force and vision for Scotland's freedom from England. This movie has it all: conflict, romance, idealism, betrayal, courage. Well done in every respect. Great script, great photography, great acting, great music. Some may want to fast-forward through the graphic war scenes, but it is well worth it to see such a masterpiece. The Matrix - The first episode of The Matrix is a true Master Work. Full of amazing symbolism about the awakening to the True Self, and how important it is to stay vigilant on the Path. Must see it from the very beginning to fully appreciate every nuance, and most viewers will want to see it more than once because this film is full of fascinating surprises! Yentle - The story of a young woman who defies convention and does the unthinkable in order to follow her dream. Beautiful songs sung by Barbara Streisand. Amazing Grace - Based on the True Story of William Wilberforce--an idealist who fought against slavery, and who loved animals. Against all odds, he made a positive difference that affected millions. Ben-Hur - One of the most complex and intriguing movies ever made, Ben-Hur won 11 Oscars, and continues to be the favorite of many people. A rich tale that took place during the time of Christ. Excellent! Hidalgo - Based on the True Story of a 19th-century cowboy who is half Indian ( Frank T. Hopkins), and his best friend: a mustang named Hidalgo (Spanish for Noble One). This is a story about finding one's truth and honoring it. It is a story of courage and morality. It is about the importance of doing what you are born to do, so that you can then help others. Very inspiring! Brother Sun Sister Moon - A rich and powerfully moving film about the early life of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare. The acting, cinematography, and screenplay are exemplary. Beautiful music scores by Donovan. An artistic, sensitive film about the power and purity of innocence and faith. The Unsinkable Molly Brown - Based on the True Story of Molly Brown--a woman who, although born poor, had great ambitions. What's great about this movie is it's fun and also shows how, if you don't give up, you can attain wonders beyond your dreams. Good fun, especially if you enjoy the classic musicals. Gladiator - A classic moving story with beautiful scenery, filming,
direction, and score – it is truly a "complete" movie.
Excellent script and superb acting. All about courage, integrity, and
destiny. Again, you might want to fast-forward through some of the
violence, but it's well worth it! This film truly leaves you inspired.
Inspirational Books
We have found ALL books by Doreen Virtue, Abraham-Hicks, Emerson, Emilie Cady, Louise Hay, Norman Vincent Peale, Sri Ram Kaa and Kira Raa, and Joel Osteen to be exceptional, and we recommend them highly. They are always enlightening, honest, and inspirational. In addition, here is the beginning of a more detailed list: The Da Vinci Code - One of the most fascinating history lessons you'll ever receive, all within the framework of a fast-paced mystery novel. Reveals the most important truths from the "Lost Books of the Bible." All truth seekers should read this book. Only when the true stories are told--the truths that affect the very core of our identities and beliefs--will it be possible to fully heal. Jane Eyre - If it's been a while since you read Jane Eyre, you may want to read it again. The book is so much better than any of the movies made from it. (Although, the movies were good, too--we mean no disrespect to Hollywood!) The writing is magnificent. Such prose reads like poetry. During it's day, in the early 1800s, Jane Eyre was the cause of much controversy for three long years, catapulting the author into unforeseen prominence for which she was not prepared. This is a work that is timeless, for it speaks honestly and openly from the heart. Much of the story is autobiographical. Intriguing, romantic, philosophical, spiritual. Alternately heartbreaking and inspiring. Beautifully written, and definitely Charlotte Bronte's Master Work.
